During one of our recent drives around town and as we traveled searching for the next great real estate deal, we started to wonder: 

Going about your typical day and following the same routines can turn anything new that comes into your life into the same old, same old pretty quickly. This can be said for almost everything: a new house, a new car, a new tech gadget.

Curious as we always try to be to better understand our market, and trying to keep a fresh mind when dealing with real estate in Middle Tennessee, we asked past clients, friends and relatives one simple question: “Why Tennessee?”.

And their answers surprised us all.

Here are the top 10 answers we got from our improvised survey:

This one can’t be denied. Tennessee has fantastic parks and nature trails you can’t find anywhere in the US, most of them within a mile or two from you. Want to go for a hike? There’s a place for that. Want to embark on a quick walk with nature? Let’s go! How about taking pictures with a gorgeous waterfall behind you? Sure, take your pick!

We are known for hot chicken, but Tennessee is so much more than that. Dozens and dozens of local restaurants delight Tennesseans with their culinary peculiarities around every corner. And the wonderful thing is that if you live in Tennessee, you are compelled to support local venues because, after all, we got it all!

This one we can’t deny either, although it depends on who you ask (and what time of year it is). As more than 100 people continue to move to Tennessee every day, you can find locals sharing how much they miss the good old times of low prices. It feels like everything is more expensive now. But the reality is that even in 2022, Tennessee continues to hold its place as one of the best cities in the nation with one of the lowest living costs per capita.

 

4. Because of dog parks.?
If you are looking for a dog-friendly city, Tennessee is the one. Well-maintained dog parks all around the state offer you and your pooch the opportunity to enjoy a fun time together any day of the week. Go fetch your favorite!

5. Because of its people.?
Want to end your day having a fun time? Pop into any locally-owned store in Tennessee and talk to locals. The first thing you will notice is how you will be treated as if you have been coming in for years. Second thing, you don’t know it, but you have just entered the Tennessee time warp, where you will take a peek at your watch and notice an hour just went by, yet it felt like you just came in through the door.

6. Because of low taxes.?
Yes, Tennessee does not have an income tax, and we all want to keep it that way.

7. Because of the weather.?
Well, on this one, it all depends on how you look at it and where you come from originally. All seasons are simply amazing when you experience them living in Tennessee. Spring blooms and color-changing falls are spectacular to see all around the city. But it is true, there are some times it seems like you just went through all of them in the span of a week: Summer-y Hot Monday, Rainy Tuesday, Monsoon-y Wednesday, Cold-y Thursday, Snowy Friday, Windy-Saturday, and Sunny Sunday! 

8. Because of good schools.?
You can always find a great neighborhood with a top-notch school anywhere in Tennessee and surrounding counties. Most schools are staffed with passionate teachers and provide the best environment that helps build a solid educational base.

9. Because of great entertainment.?
We are home to Music City. What else can we say?

10. Because of me (you).?
This one made us chuckle and had to be on our list. And it is 100% true: Tennessee wouldn’t be complete without you!?
